Greece Golden Visa price increase announced!

Immigration by investment programs getting more expensive. Malta stable for now.

In previous newsletters we’ve alerted you to several countries having recently increased the minimums required to qualify for their residency and/or citizenship by investment programs.

Now Greece has announced a doubling of investment minimums as well.

Following the tightening of the investment migration programs of Portugal, Bulgaria, the United States, and Turkey, the prime minister of Greece has declared a doubling of the minimum amount for a property purchase from currently EUR 250,000 to EUR 500,000.

No official start date has been set yet when the doubling of the minimum amount will become effective, but we expect this to happen as early as January.

Further, the Greek Ministry of Development has hinted that applications already filed at that time would not be affected, meaning the price increase would only be imposed on new applications filed after the official start date.

Therefore, applicants who start under the current regulation and lodge their application with the government quickly are expected to benefit from the lower price still in effect.

Because the process of completing the application forms and purchase contract can take several weeks applicants are urged to commence the process right away.
