Traveling to Malta Without Quarantine

Note (2026): Malta’s former Citizenship by Investment program has been replaced by the Citizenship by Merit framework.

June 2021 Update: No quarantine required for travel to Malta from various countries.

As of 17. June 2021, passengers arriving from countries on the “Amber List” (link below) need only submit a negative COVID-19 PCR test certificate before boarding flights to Malta. No quarantine in Malta is required for these visitors. The PCR test must have been taken no longer than 72 hours prior to arrival in Malta.

As of 01. July 2021, passengers arriving from EU countries on the “Amber List” only need to show a vaccination certificate (Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca, or Johnson & Johnson). No COVID-19 PCR test is required for these visitors.

Malta Travel Restrictions
Because the summer vacation period is near which reduces the number of available government appointments, and because new COVID variants might still emerge, we recommend starting your application now - while there is an open window of opportunity!

If you have decided that the Malta residency or citizenship is right for you, please contact us for next steps. Thank you for your trust and confidence.

Take the Quiz: Malta (EU) Residency or Citizenship. Which one is right for me?

Find out if you qualify for Malta permanent residency or Malta citizenship, including an EU passport / dual citizenship status.

Program Interest
Permanent Residency: Non‑EU nationals who obtain permanent residence in Malta under the MPRP program are granted the right to live, work, study, or retire in Malta. The program requires a minimum investment from €99,000, in addition to either purchasing or renting property, along with applicable professional and legal fees.

Citizenship: Malta citizenship under the Malta Citizenship by Merit framework grants the right to live, work, study, or retire in Malta, along with access to public healthcare and education. It also provides an EU passport, allowing holders to live and work in any EU member state, not just Malta. Eligible applicants typically include individuals with exceptional achievements in science, technology, or innovation; those distinguished in culture, the arts, or sports; business leaders and entrepreneurs whose ventures create employment in Malta; and philanthropic or humanitarian figures whose work and contributions demonstrates a broader international impact.
