Portugal Golden Visa Real Estate Option Terminated

The residency and citizenship by investment program landscape is evolving rapidly, with some options being scaled back or discontinued altogether. However, in late 2023 President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa signed into law the “Mais Habitação” (More Housing) bill which terminates the option for Golden Visa applicants to invest in real estate or real estate-focused investment funds. The program's real estate route has long been favored for its simplicity and potential returns, but this avenue is now closed.
